Two stories that you have read in sections A and B of this unit deal with the themes of desire, desperation, and deception. Compare and contrast how Willa Cather in "Paul's Case" and Edgar Allan Poe in "The Cask of Amontillado" use setting and a central object or image to present similar themes. Discuss how the plots follow a similar progression..
