A table exerts a 4.0 kg Newton force on a book which lies at rest on its top. What is the force exerted by the book on the table?

Plug in for the formula force = mass x acceleration

But it only gave me one number. So what do I do?

It says it lies at rest, so that would be zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! So it would be 0 = 4.0 x acceleration which is 0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be Mass= 4.0 kg Acceleration= 0 m/s So.. F= 4 x 0
