Florida has 27 representatives while Massachusetts has nine representatives. Why do states have different numbers of representatives?

I believe it is because of it's size, i think this would get a better anser in history instead of emglish, but i am pretty sure it is because of it's size. hope this helps :)

States have different numbers of representatives because of their population, states with more people have more representatives.

The most populous state, California, currently has 53 representatives. The total number of voting representatives is fixed by law at 435.
