13. Well give a medal! Need help fast! Why is Darwin’s theory of natural selection sometimes described as "survival of the fittest"?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, Natural Selection is a theory made up by Charles Darwin. He came up with his theory on Galapagos Island, where he noticed a large array of finches all with various types of beaks. He realized it was the feeding habits of birds that affected their beaks. For example, a bird with a big, powerful beak ate large seeds, while the birds with small beaks ate small seeds. Darwin realized that each bird was suited to its surrounding and adapted to their environment. Then the birds that are best suited to their environments will go on to prevail and the weak will be left behind and on their own, in other words they will become extinct. This can also be called the “survival of fittest”
