hmm well ill try to explain each step with words
step 1 was to combine it into the multiplication form which u can do only if the log base is the same....
step 2 is that the log 3 is raised to the power of 3 to get the answer *hence these are all log properties*
step 3 then is just solving for x using the factor format or quadratic formula but
x cant = -5 since log ( -5 + 2) = log(-3) and you cant take the log of a -#
