The first function to consider is the price of the HDTV. Since there is a sale, we can use two factors to determine the price. The initial cost of the HDTV is $2299 then there is the discount of 35% (subtract this from the cost).

To express this mathematically do this:



x is the price of the TV.

but we have an addition cost, that is the sales tax. So TAKE the number from the discount and apply it to the sales tax. This is where it becomes a composite function.
