Find the midpoint of line PQ. Graph: http://i46.tinypic.com/168hr9w.jpg A)(3, 2) B)(3, 3) C)(2, 2) D)(2, 3) How do I do this? Please help.

hartnn (hartnn):

can you find the co-ordinates of p and Q ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. Can you give me a second to get them please.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(-2,10) = P (8,-4) = Q

hartnn (hartnn):

Q is correct. for P, -2 is correct, try again for y-co-ordinate..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My bad. (-2,8) = P

hartnn (hartnn):

correct, now the mid-point given 2 endpoints will be just the average of the co-ordinates of endpoints. so, x=(x1+x2)/2 y=(y1+y2)/2 just plug in values.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh! Okay, Thank You so much :)

hartnn (hartnn):

so, what you got mid-point as ? just to verify.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Give me a second to calculate it.

hartnn (hartnn):

sure. take your time :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got: (-2,8) = P (8,-4) = Q X = (-2+8)/2 Y = (8+-4)/2 X = 3 Y = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So (3,2) aka A :D

hartnn (hartnn):

good ! \(\huge \checkmark\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your a good teacher :)

hartnn (hartnn):

thanks :) you are a quick learner :)
