i'm a bit confused with square roots please help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whatcha question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know \[\sqrt{8} = 8^{0,5}\] so what is \[\sqrt[3]{8} \] then. please help.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\huge \sqrt[n]{x} = x^{\frac{1}{n}} = x^{1/n} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[1/2 = 0.5\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also keep in mind that when \(n\) is even, we have: \[ \large \sqrt[n]{x} = |x^{1/n}| \]In other words, it only gets the positive root.
