Why can light travel with or without a medium?

For light a medium is rather a very small hindrance. "empty space " is the best but it quantitatively doesn't matter.
Under general and normal conditions nothing interferes with light other than very strong gravitational fields. Even they don't stop the photons but only curve their path.

Why light CAN travel without a medium and not any other waves is because.. well in order to have a wave.. you need something to be oscillating.. fr example water waves you have water particles oscillating.. string waves.. you have string particles.. sound you have air particles.. hence something MUST oscillate.. but light.. light does not have a physical particle which is oscillating..  infact light has electric and magnetic fields oscillating.. these fields can exist in free space (no medium) and hence light requires no material medium ! ..

@Mashy it is wrong for you to say that light does not have physical particle which can oscillate.the elementary particle of light wave is photon and it is capable of oscillation

No.. when you consider WAVE nature of light.. there are no particles oscillating .. there are only fields.. 

and when you consider photon nature.. photons are particles of light.. but they DON'T OSCILATE!!!.. how can they oscillate.. what will make then oscillate :O :O !!

Light waves do travel without a medium. Light exists as tiny "packets" called photons. These photons exhibit both the properties of waves and particles. Since it acts like a particle it can travel without a medium.
