Solve x2 + 18 = –9x. I got up to x2+18+9x=0 now i'm stuck :/ help?

This particular equation can be solved by factoring. You only need to find two numbers that when multiplied give 18, but when added give 9. Can you think of any such 2 numbers?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(6)(3) = 18 and 6 + 3 = 9 Does that help you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oooooh ok! So my final answer is x=-6 and x=-3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you take those 2 numbers and put them in the blank area: (x + ) (x + ) = 0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, those are the zeros because (x + 6) (x + 3) = 0 Good work!

Thank you! (:
