f (x) = 3x + 5 How do I graph this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y intercept is 5, then go up 3 right 1 or down 3 left 1 to plot points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You find the x and y intercepts of the equation first. In this case, for the x intercept you put 3x + 5 = 0 and solve. For the y intercept you substitute x = 0 into the equation. So you would get y = 3(0) = 5. After that, if you don't have an idea how the equation will look, you substitute x-values into the equation until you get an idea of what it will look like.

graphing the y-intercept and then using the slope is easier when the intercepts (the x-intercept) in this case is not an integer
