I need help finding the area of a simple integrand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\int\limits_{1}^{2}x dx\] How do I find the area of this integrand? I can take the anti derivative of x and get .5x^2 .5(2)^2-.5(1)^2 = 3.5 But when I try to graph the integrand...|dw:1358141280459:dw| What am I doing wrong?
