Name the algebraic property demonstrated in the example below. ab = ab Reflexive Property Transitive Property Symmetric Property Commutative Property of Multiplication

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well which one do you think it is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you confused or do you not understand the properties?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

symmetric property ?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

when you look in a mirror, you see yourself so when you look in a mirror, you are seeing your ____

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Reflexive Property ? @jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well. The symmetric property means that if a=b, then b =a.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yep, reflexive property

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are actually 2 answers for this problem. You have the first one.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

for any number, that number is equal to itself x = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you both!! @jim_thompson5910 and @blahblah_who_cares

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whoops my bad. I was thinking of another property. It is only reflexive.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so you can think of any number looking into a mirror and it will "see" itself and see it's reflection...which means that any number is equal to itself by the reflexive property
