How do I simplify -2x^2(-3x)^2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First work out what inside the bracket, (-3x)^2 which is 9x^2 then its just -2x^2 multiplied by 9x^2 which gives -18x^4 because the powers on the x just add.

Awesome!

OpenStudy (kuoministers):

how do i simplify? not how do i simply?

OpenStudy (kuoministers):

oh yea my bad this isnt english

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How about this one -2x^2(-5x)^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's the exact same method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer should be (25x^2) times -2x^2 which is -50x^4, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Correct!
