To find the slope of a line that passes through two points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) you can use this, let's call the slope "s" \[s= \dfrac {y_{2}-y_{1}} {x_{2} - x_{1}}\] You can choose any point to be one, so, let's pick (1,4); x1=1 and y1=4, then x2=-1 and y2=14, replacing on the equation \[s= \dfrac {14-4} {(-1)-1}=\dfrac {10} {-2}=-5\]
