The volume of a cylinder is 48.125 cm3, which is formed by rolling a rectangular paper sheet along the length of the paper. If cuboidal box (without any lid i.e., open at the top) is made from the same sheet of paper by cutting out the square of side 0.5 cm from each of the four corners of the paper sheet, then what is the volume of this box?

OpenStudy (shubhamsrg):

Volume of cylinder = pi r^2 h Surface are of cylinder = 2pirh also, surface area of cylinder = surface area of rectangular paper let dimensions of paper be x and y so xy=2pirh |dw:1358252068511:dw| Also, after folding all up, surface area of box = surface area of paper - (area of 4 squares of side 0.5 cm) Dimensions of box = 0.5 , x-(0.5 *2) and y-(0.5*2) Surface area of box with open top = lb+ 2(hb +hl) You have to find lbh Does all this help ?
