check : y/x = constant ----> direct variation xy = constant -----> inverse variation else neither

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont understand

hartnn (hartnn):

did you get it ? or need further help ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

further help please

hartnn (hartnn):

ok, lets check, y/x values. first column : 9/3 =... ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

hartnn (hartnn):

2nd column : 27/9 =... ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

hartnn (hartnn):

O.o 3rd column , 39/13 is also 3!! so, did you notice that y/x ratio remains constant for all pairs ?? and if so, the relation is direct variation :)

hartnn (hartnn):

to write a function, take y/x = k select any entry, say first pair, y=9,x=3 and find k, which you already found out as 3 so, the function is y/x=3 or y=3x. did you understand all this ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i understand this a lot better.thank you so much!

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
