This might not help much but I would look up Edger Allen Poe's work, since he is so well known and he was focused on a bit in English 11 A. :)

But to elaborate a little bit more, when it asks if this statement is accurate, it just wants your opinion. My opinion is no, it is not correct because writers like Edger Allen Poe created writing styles, for one.
