Checking Answers Write the equation of a line that is perpendicular to the given line and that passes through the given point. y + 2 = 1/3 (x – 5); (–4, 3) I got y =–1/3x – 11

I think if you know the slope of a line is m, then the slope of a line perpendicular to it is -1/m (flip and then minus it) The slope of the 1st line is 1/3. you negated it to get -1/3 but you still have to flip it.
