What are the main elements of Japanese bushido?

Hi. I just got doing this lesson. The answer I did was: Samurai did not receive land for their services, but they were often paid and given food and lodging. The bushido of the samurai emphasized courage in battle, loyalty to a lord, kindness, and mercy. But the samurai carried loyalty to an extreme through a ritual act of suicide if a samurai failed his lord in battle; he was expected to commit suicide. This suicide involved a samurai using a knife to cut his abdomen, after which an assistant would cut off the warrior’s head.
