Question 1 (Essay Worth 6 points) Write an equation that you could solve using these steps: Add 7 to both sides. Then, divide both sides by 4. Explain how you know your answer is right.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

ok lets do it in reverse order let x be the variable

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (aravindg):

they say divide by 4 , so reverse i multiplication so multiply x by 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

X*4 divided by 7 but how do you know what x is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (blurbendy):

4x - 7 = 21 4x = 28 x = 7 substitute 7 into x for the original equation (4(7) -7 = 21) to check your answer. (Visual of what AravindG is saying).

OpenStudy (aravindg):

wait a second..they said add 7 on both sides in question, so we must subtract 7 from both sides!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):
