3. The loads taken from an a.c. supply consist of: (a) a heating load of 15 kW; (b) a motor load of 40 kVA at 0.6 power factor; and (c) a load of 20 kW at 0.8 lagging power factor. Calculate: (i) the total load from the supply in kW and kVA and its power factor, (ii) the kVA rating of the capacitor to bring the power factor to unity. Draw the power triangle and show how the capacitor would be connected to the supply and the loads. Answers [59 kW, 75.4 kVA, 0.782; 47 kVAr]

..I got the total load from supply in KW..But i can't find the it in KVA...!! Using the formula.. Active power in watts / Apparent power in voltamperes = power factor I onverted it from KW to KVA and KVA to KW..But how to convert "a heating load of 15 kW" into KVA. That's where i'm stuck..:/..

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

can you draw the power triangle ?

...The power triangle is to be done later in the question.. ..Also To be able to do so..Don't i need apparent power and reactive power..?? So i first need to get the totel load power in KVA.. Can you help..??
