I throw a stone at 20 degree, when the stone falls to the ground, it reaches 100m further. Using CALCULUS methods, find the initial speed of the stone.

from the vertical motion, ie, velocity is usin(theta) find time it will take to get to highest pt. time of flight will be twice of it. you would use first equation of motion here. then from second equation of motion, take horizontal motion, ie, velocity is ucostheta. plug time of flight and you'll get a formula for range in terms of theta, initial velocity(u) and g. it will look like this. RANGE=u^2 * sin(2theta)/g
