Use L for length and W for width, then: Length is 5 times width: L = 5W The perimeter of a rectangle is L + L + W + W or 2L + 2W We are told the perimeter is 102 cm, so 2L + 2W = 102, but L = 5W, so 2(5W) + 2W = 102 Now you have an equation with only one variable, W, so you can solve it. Once you know what W is, then L = 5W will give you L.
