you need to substitute h0 = 400 and h = 0... (the car has hit the ground which will give \[0 = -16t^2 + 400\] now just solve for t and only use the positive value as time can't be negative. hope this helps

ok.. so rewrite the equation \[16t^2 = 400\] divide both sides by 16 then take the square root of the answer..
