my answer is b Divide 3x2 - 11x - 4 by x - 4. (2 points) Answer x + 1 x - 23 3x + 1 3x - 23

The answer is C, do you need help understanding why?

OpenStudy (zehanz):

If you factor, it will be like: (3x+a)(x-4). So you have to find a. Expanding again gives: 3x² -12x+ax-4a = 3x²+(a-12)x-4a. You can now see what a is, by looking at the constant term (must be -4) or at the coefficient of x (must be -11).
