How come people people keep getting suspened for no reason other than Alec reporting people for nothing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a community ban. We really need to do something about this.

Ik @rajathsbhat has been banned for "too many abuse reports". It's a mistake.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Moderators are very good at doing their job. A staff member will never suspend someone under false claims. The system is suspending you because someone is making accounts and reporting you. Do not blames the staff because they haven't done anything. I'm sure that they are now aware of the situation and are looking into it.

OpenStudy (blues):

The community ban is in place because sometimes a troll comes on when a mod isn't available and good users need a way of getting that person off. In the roughly six months I have been a mod here, we have never seen such abuse of the community ban as happened today, and I have many times seen it benefit the site. There has been some discussion of modifying the thresholds for the community ban - perhaps in such a way as abuse must be reported by more than one person - to prevent such incidents. But they have always been "what if" analysis rather than discussion of actual events. Perhaps this discussion should be reopened.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

More than one report for the same IP address should be denied.
