through (4,5), perpendicular to y=-1/2x-1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a line that would be perpendicular to that line and that goes through those two points would look like this: y=2x+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i solve it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like how did you get that answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well you know that to be perpendicular the slope must be the recipricle of the given line's slope

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh so thats all you do?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no actually i typed the line wrong it would be y=2x-3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

why -3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you have your line like this: y=2x the you just put in the points and see what number you need to add to make it equal

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you do thhe reciprical first then solve?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes you got it!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you!! xo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ur welcome if you have anymore questions just ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!!!
