What Is The Relationship Between Concentration Gradient And Diffusion

OpenStudy (happykiddo):

concentration gradient is the differance in the concentration of a substance from one location to another. Molecules diffuse down their concentration gradient that is from a reegion of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration.like in passive transport (EX).....tie dye

i kept my notes from when i was in biology :D

ohh thats a smart idea:]

OpenStudy (frostbite):

Very good answer happykiddo, however I like to make a note that molecules can diffuse against the concentration gradient if the total free energy (supported by another reaction) of the system is ΔG<0. In order words transport using energy (active transport / active diffusion) there is the ability to move against the concentration gradient (known from many biological processes)

OpenStudy (happykiddo):

yep yep i know but just wanted to give basic explanation
