nice picture :) but whats your question ?integrate which region?

A two-day environmental clean up started at 9AM on the first day. The number of workers fluctuated as shown in the following figure. If the workers were paid $10 per hour, how much was the total personnel cost of the clean up? Suppose that the workers were paid 10 dollars per hour for work during the time period 9 am to 5 pm and were paid 15 dollars per hour for work during the rest of the day. What would the total personnel costs of the clean up

please help!!! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@zepdrix ahh i do not know how to set it up -_-

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant tell if the yaxis is the amount of people working or the total amount being paid at the given hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm guessing personnel cost/hr

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so there's always 2 people working at any given time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if thats the case, find the total area, under the curve you cant integrate if you dont have an equation, so im just going to assume you need to estimate the total cost well just break it up into the area of 1 rectangle and 2 triangles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i just count the squares from the given time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

every unit to the right is 4 hours every unit up is 5$ so every box would be 20$
