How is an ammeter connected to a circuit?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

An ammeter must be connected in series with the circuit as it measures the rate of electron flow through the conductor. A voltmeter on the other hand measures the "Potential" of each coulomb of electric charge to do work between two points and is connected in parallel with the circuit element(s) in question.

They call the rate of electron flow in a circuit "electric current" BTW.

Thank you! you answered another question i had. haha (Voltmeter)
