Is it possible to stop notifications when someone answers from a question that you previously contributed to? I've been getting a lot of notifications..

You'll get a notification if someone comments after you've commented atleast once, then if you 'see' it (click on notification tab), you'll again get the notification when there is next comment on that post , BUT if you don't see it (do not click on notification tab, and let it remain unseen), then you will not get any further notifications for the comments thereafter (until you see it again). Got it ?

Yeah, i see what you mean. But sometimes i want to see another notification, so when i press on the tab, they all go away, right? Then the notifications start all over again. I just want to see if you can disable notifications for certain posts..

thats right, and you cannot disable notifications for a particular post. 
And it has been more helpful than irritating.

Theyre not as specific though. Like in fb, you can choose not to be notified of certain people's activity.. i mean something like that

I guess you can change your notification settings to the people you have fanned.Not sure about it though.
