Match each inequality with its solution x/-5 < 2 -3x<9 3x < -30 x/3 < -1
A) x > -10 B) x < -10 C) x > -3 D) x < -3
Hi thanks for at least looking
all you have to do is multiply both sides by -5
and when you do so, flip the sign
the options are up top u have to match them with abc or d
x/-5 < 2 A) x > -10 -3x<9 B) x < -10 3x < -30 C) x > -3 x/3 < -1 D) x < -3
i told you how to do the first one, what did you get for that answer? the second one all you do is divide by -3, and flip the sign 3rd one divide by 3 do not flip the sign 4th one multiply by 3 do not flip the sign
so for the first one do i flip the sign
yesh
well lets see if eclipse18 says the same just to be sure two is better than 1 right
eclipse18?
Work out the inequalities. x/-5 < 2 Multiply -5 by both sides. When you multiply or divide a negative to each side, you always flip the less-than or greater-than sign to the other. x > -10 So the first inequality is matched with A. -3x < 9 Divide -3 from each side. Again, you have to flip the sign. x > -3 So the second inequality is matched with C. 3x < -30 Divide 3 from each side. x < -10 So the third inequality is matched with B. x/3 < -1 Multiply 3 to each side. x < -3 So the fourth and last inequality is matched with D. And yes, blondie16 is correct. ^-^ Do you understand it now?
