OpenStudy (anonymous):

(2x - 14) = 4

OpenStudy (phoenixfire):

The brackets are not needed. \[2x-14=4\] Add 14 to both sides of the equation. What do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 18

OpenStudy (phoenixfire):

give the whole equation.

OpenStudy (phoenixfire):

\[2x-14+14=4+14\]\[2x=18\] Okay you got this. Now divide both sides by 2. You will see that the 2 cancels on the left leaving you with \(x={18 \over 2}\). simplify that and you have your answer.
