Keep a healthy immune system by eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep, also taking preventative measures such as washing your hands often, wearing a mask/gloves, or maybe taking some extra vitamin C or herbs like echinacea

When you get sick, and your doctor prescribes you antibiotics, make sure you take all of them. For example, if the prescription asks you to take one antibiotic pill per day, then you ought to take one pill per day, until all of the pills are gone. It's important to finish your entire bottle of antibiotics, so that all of the bacteria, that are making you sick, are killed off. Any surviving bacteria could develop a genetic mutation, that makes them resistant to the antibiotic. And when THOSE antibiotic-resistant bacteria start dividing again, the antibiotics that you were taking will be much less effective.
