How could you tell between the different types of polynomial functions?

There's monomials (one term): \[3x, 10x, 10y, 10294082409285072098t...\] there's also binomials (two terms): \[3x+2y, 7z-10000y, 12y-x,...\] and of course trinomials (three terms): \[3x^2+3x+5, 7x-\frac{ 7 }{ 18 }z+\frac{ 1 }{ 90 }y,...\]
