left to right top to bottom note: left to right will be first if there is a conflict between horizontal and vertical

Writing or typing? When typing, use a pinyin input such as the one included with Windows or MacOS. Another example of input is the google input. Free download.

There are a couple of rules or steps that you must follow when handwriting Chinese characters. If you don't follow them, you will have difficulty when trying to create them on the touch screen to input characters into you mobile device. I have attached a file that give the basics of the steps for this which is the same information but a little clearer than what is in the online text book assigned to the MIT course. There are lots of online resources you can find for learning how to properly write Chinese characters along with mobile apps and books.
