26. What are the solutions of |2x -1|< 5? HEEEEEEEEELPPPPPP !

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

do you know how to start this off?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No I don't

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

Ok wel since we have the absolute vlaues || we want to do |2x -1|< 5 snf |2x -1|< -5

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

wops sorry.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

When you have an absolute value equation in which you have the absolute value of an expression is less than a number, you change it like this: |expression| < number negative of the number < expression < number In your case this wuill be: -5 < 2x - 1 < 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's the answer ?

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

2x -1< 5 and 2x -1< -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathstudent55

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

No, it's not, it's the steps to get the answer...

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Add 1 to all three sides, then divide all three sides by 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just need the answer, or easy steps am almost finished I only need 5 more answers to be done

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

-5 < 2x - 1 < 5 Add 1 to all three parts: -5 + 1 < 2x < 5 + 1 -4 < 2x < 6 Divide all three parts by 2 -2 < x < 3

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

We don't give answers here, we help students.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathstudent55 Thanks ! Thats much easier then this guy @KonradZuse

OpenStudy (konradzuse):

You should give this fine gentleman a medal now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
