match the right hand side to the left hand side. (sin x)(tan x cos x - cot x cos x) = 1 - 2 cos2x

First, look what you've got: on the left side all kinds of trigonometric functions, on the right side only a cos2x. I would try to do the following: replace tanx with sinx/cosx, replace cotx with cosx/sinx, simplify and expand the left side. When this is done, look at the right side.

The right side should be read as\[1-2\cos^2x\]otherwise it doesn't make any sense...
