can the cell cycle described for mitosis be applied to meiosis as well

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah it can. Mitosis is made up of four stages: 1. Prophase 2. Metaphase 3. Anaphase 4. Telophase Meiosis is a little different from mitosis, because it's got eight stages: 1. Prophase 1 2. Metaphase 1 3. Anaphase 1 4. Telophase 1 5. Prophase 2 6. Metaphase 2 7. Anaphase 2 8. Telophase 2 Do you see how it's mostly like mitosis? Only that every phase happens twice. In both mitosis and meiosis, the chromosomes will duplicate, split up, and the cell will divide, in very similar ways. If you have anymore questions about Mitosis or Meiosis, I'll be happy to explain in more detail for you.
