Factor by grouping: yw+5w-7y-35

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

w(y+5)-7(y+5).. do you see this step?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get that? I'm sorry, but I'm unsure of how to do it.

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

ok if we just look at yw+5w ... there is a w common in both terms. This means you can factor it out. (Essentially, you are dividing the inside of the parentheses by w, and bringing that w out): w(y+5) ... think if you had to multiply this out, you would get wy+ w5 (or yw+5w) which is what you had initially

Thanks so much!

Ok.. but it's not quite finished, there is just one more step to go for the final solution, can you figure it out?
