Can anyone convert this sentence to romaji and hiragana: "My name is Jimmy and I like to play football." I will give a medal and a fan!

Here, I'll give it to you in Japanese. You can read Japanese right? It's broken down into two separate sentences here: ぼくのなまえはジミーです。 "My name is Jimmy." (ぼくのなまえは) -- (My name is...) (ジミー) -- (Jimmy) フットボールするのがすきです。 "I like to play football." (フットボールするの) -- (playing football) (がすきです) -- (I like) Japanese is a little weird, when we try to directly translate it into English, but you probably know that. "Jimmy" and "football" are both written in katakana, and not hiragana. That's because their origins are English, and not Japanese. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you wanted it all to be in one sentence, I think we could do this: ぼくのなまえはジミーでフットボールするのがすきです。 Do you see how I took the す out of the first sentence, so that I could add the second sentence onto it? It's been so long since I've seen Japanese. I tried to research this, to make sure that this method of linking two sentences would be correct. My research turned up nothing. But something in my memory suggests that we can take the す off the first sentence, and link the second sentence onto it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you could ask your teacher, that'd be great.

Great answer by InYourHead. If you have not learnt yet how to turn a verb into a noun, you can simplify the sentence with: フットボールが すきです。 which is "I like football", rather than "I like playing football". フットボール is American football. If soccer is meant in the question, then use サッカー サッカーが すき です。

Rōmaji is: Boku-wa Jimmy desu, sakkā-ga suki desu. (or futtobōru-ga suki desu)
