I am not sure about your answer but I have an idea to solve it: Let your triangle has the vertices ABD with the angle 90 degree is A, the top vertice is B, the other is D. the point in BD is C. Consider the similar triangles between BAD and ACD you have the scale between them is AD/BD = AC/AB= CD/AD. It means b/8+a = 6/8 = a/b Solve pairs of them you have the solution. I don't know whether it works or not. hope this help
