Brandon received a book for his birthday and read thirty-six pages in 3 hours. Later, he read fifty-two pages in 4 hours. Does his reading follow a direction variation? Explain.

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

That should be a "direct variation" I believe. A direct variation is one where the relationship can be graphed as a straight line. If you double the amount of the input, the output is doubled. Remember that a straight line has a constant slope. Compute how many pages per hour Brandon read during each of the two reading sessions. Is that rate the same for both?
