For which system of equations would elimination be the simplest technique to choose? y = 2x and x + 3y = 5 4x + 3y = 6 and 3y = 5 x + y = 7 and x - y = 12 3x - 2y = 8 and 4x - 5y = 20

The first one is the simplest because you already have an expression for "y" defined. That is, "y" is all by itself on the left side.

thanks!

When solving the first system, you can take that expression for "y" and put it directly into the second equation: x + 3(2x) = 5
