Can someone help me solve this math problem? http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t120/brinazarski2/4_zps08f17af1.png

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D :) forsure

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

Why D? Can you explain?

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

Not to mention you solved that really fast, and this is supposed to be difficult...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

One sec, its actually B, let me explain

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

Okay :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

His lawn is 13500 feet (rectangle, 90*150=13500) and the path he ends up cutting is actually 32 inches (he mows 28inches but overlaps is another 4 inches=32inches total) 32 inches= about 2.7 feet (rounded) Rate of 5000 feet per hour You then take the total lawn area: 13500 and divide it by the path he mows 13500/2.7= 5000 Then take the rate of feet per hour divided by what he is mowing 5000/5000=1 It took him about 1 hour

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry it took so long

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The closest answer is (B)

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

It's okay!

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

I think I understand :) Thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand? :) and what grade is this?

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

This is for Math Team, so it covers all grade levels lol. I was pretty close, I just didn't know what to do after I divided 13,500 by 2.7

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

Grades 9-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oo, i feel smart :D grade 9 glad you understand :) have a good day

OpenStudy (brinazarski):

You too!
