OpenStudy (anonymous):

4x^2+32x-260=0

OpenStudy (mertsj):

Divide both sides by 4 and then factor.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factor out a 4 first, what do you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[x^2+8x-65=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do the diamond method. Multiply the number before x^2 (which in this case is 1) and -65. Then you have to figure out what two numbers multiply to -65 and add to 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would be 4(x^2 + 8x - 65) Now what 2 numbers multiply to be -65, and add to be 8?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

13 and -5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep, now how would you set that up?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[2(x+13) 2(x-5)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or just 4(x+13)(x-5)

OpenStudy (mertsj):

4(x+13)(x-5)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

And then the same as last time.. the x is just 5 and -13

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i understand that thank you so much......i have completed another problem because i think i understand this could you check to see if my answer is correct??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure!
