Aha..These are similar triangles, because they have two sides with the same ratio 2:1. (the sides with lines through them). Since these are in ratio 2:1, so will every other side. so 20:(3x-5) = 2:1 or can be written as \[\frac{20}{3x-5}=\frac{2}{1}\] multiply up the 3x-5 to get \[20=2(3x-5)=6x-10\] Divide both sides by common factor: 2 \[10=3x-5\] Adding 5 to both sides: \[15=3x\] Divide both sides by 3 So x = 5

Thank You Sooo Much! Your better than my teachat explaining! Are you up for another?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Like this one?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It has to do with finding x on an angle.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure I'll have a look

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What is the value of x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah you should probably post a new question, but I'll answer anyway... These are vertically opposite angles which are ALWAYS equal So just solve: 142 = 2x+24 divide by 2: 71 = x + 12 59 = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, I just have 2 more. Would you like me to post a new question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. That'd be great. Sometimes people get pissed off if you don't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol ok.
