isolate the varibal -7a-6=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Add 6 to both sides. You get -7a=14 Then divide each side by -7. You'll get a= -2 if you did it right. You have to cancel out everything that keeps a from being by itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what if its like 1/2b=-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Divide by 1/2. Which is the same thing as 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so b=-1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says to multiply

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to do the opposite of what it says to do in order to cancel it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Haha. Whoops. For fractions, you have to multiply. (Sorry bout that, it's really early.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its alright :)
