5x^2 =20

OpenStudy (aravindg):

divide by 5 on both sides of equation

OpenStudy (aravindg):

what do you get ? @Nakeisha ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x^2 -4

OpenStudy (aravindg):

you mean \[x^2=4 ?\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

opps i noticed i post the question wrong it was suppose to be 5x^2-20 not 5x^2=20 sorry

OpenStudy (aravindg):

so is the question simplify??

Parth (parthkohli):

\[x = \sqrt{(20/5)} + e^{i\pi} + e^{2\pi i}\]

OpenStudy (aravindg):

o.O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woow ummm

Parth (parthkohli):

No, actually, this is a very good approach:\[5x^2 = 20 \iff 5x^2 - 20 = 0 \iff 5(x^2 - 4) = 0 \iff x^2 - 4 = 0\]

Parth (parthkohli):

So simply find the roots of \(x^2 - 4\).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it has to be to factorize completely

OpenStudy (aravindg):

do you know how to factorise \[a^2-b^2 \]

OpenStudy (aravindg):

\[a^2-b^2=(a+b)(a-b)\]

OpenStudy (aravindg):

use that and get to the result :)

Parth (parthkohli):

\[x^2 - 4 = x^2 \underbrace{-2x + 2x}_0 - 4\]

Parth (parthkohli):

\[x^2 - 2x + 2x - 4 = x(x - 2) + 2(x -2) \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhh i see

OpenStudy (aravindg):

got it ?

Parth (parthkohli):

The moment of enlightenment.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) yh thanks

OpenStudy (aravindg):

yw :)
